Research: I am interested in the factors that promote regional biodiversity and can allow for the preservation of high species richness in working landscapes. My research is on bat community ecology in the lowland tropical forests of southern Belize, where I am investigating the role of temporal, spatial, and dietary niche partitioning within insectivorous bats. I am also looking at bat guild representation in different vegetation types to figure out which elements of topography, climate, and vegetative structure determine local species richness.
