Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Funded Fisheries and Aquatic Biology Master’s ProgramThis specially funded program is a cooperative arrangement between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Fish and Wildlife and the University of Minnesota’s Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. The goal of this program is to graduate students with fisheries expertise who will pursue a career with the state agency. Prior to and during the time that students are pursuing the MS degree, they will be employed by the DNR, full time during the summer (beginning in June 2006) and quarter time during the school year. Most students will undertake a Plan B Master's (course work only) although in some circumstances a Plan A (with thesis) may be possible. Funding for students at approximately $14,000 per year is meant to cover their tuition and fees with a small additional amount for expenses. All participants will pay tuition at the resident rate. Upon completion of the MS degree, and with satisfactory performance in their DNR work, students will be offered employment in the DNR Section of Fisheries at the professional entry level. For details contact Loren Miller Fisheries and Aquatic Biology track coordinator, at (612) 624-3019 or email lmm@umn.edu. |
